EXPERTISE

Steve Morgan has extensive experience handling a broad range of intellectual property rights matters, including litigation, licensing, opinions, and prosecution. Patent litigation and licensing have been a focal point of his practice.

Over the course of his practice, Mr. Morgan has dealt with a wide range of technologies, including optical discs and drives, hard-disk drives, medical imaging systems, medical devices, analog and digital circuits, DRAMs, video compression, batteries, financial services and business methods.

Mr. Morgan has managed the day-to-day aspects of patent litigation, including those relative to integrated circuit designs, computer memory, and computer software. He has been responsible for validity, infringement and inequitable conduct analyses for patents covering computer memory, computer hardware and computer software and he has prepared for Markman hearings in areas including flash memory, online securities trading and computer operating systems.

In 2003, Mr. Morgan was seconded from Weil Gotshal to serve in Osaka, Japan as senior legal counsel for Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic), one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers. While there, he played an active role in advising Matsushita with respect to all facets of its patent-related activities, including analyses related to patent infringement and validity, claim construction, licensing in, licensing out, and reverse engineering. He actively participated in numerous licensing negotiations.

Mr. Morgan is also a volunteer mediator at the Dispute Resolution Center of Harris County.
